The sun had set nearly an hour ago and a sea of clouds had rolled over the island blocking out the stars' beautiful faces. A few of the strongest moon beams managed to pierce through the sheet of gloomy gray that began to threaten the lands with a high chance of rain and flashes of lightening. The lack of the moon's glow did not matter much to him for his eyesight was poor regardless of the weather conditions. Round radars stood as high upon his broad skull as was possible, an acute sense of hearing surveying the darkness around him. Short, thick legs shuffled forward over the rocky ledge, pulling a stocky frame onto the flattened terra. His black nose stayed close to the earth, nares expanding and contracting quickly as the scents of the earth were pulled inward for investigation.
He moved over the greenery in a seemingly clumsy fashion, each step echoed with a thud uncaring as to who would hear or which beast he would awaken. This weasel believed he could take on the devil himself and come out the victor, no mangy mutt or house cat would have a chance against this brute. The loud, heavy exchange of air from his nostrils grew in force, his attention falling onto a particular spot in the ground. Eagerly he circled the area pushing his nose harshly against the scent. Long, strong claws suddenly lashed out piercing mother earth's hide, pulling pawfulls of dirt from it's resting place. Pebbles and grains of dirt and sand flew every which way colliding with boulders and trees, the clashing sounds echoing across the lake. Short jaws parted as they reached their prize a low snarling sound rumbling from the wolverine's chest in partnership with a high picked squeak, and followed by a series of small crunches. A simple mole wasn't much of a meal, yet it was enough to wake him and ready the weasel for a hunt.

To anyone standing and watching the beautiful surroundings that called the lake home, they wouldn't have time to think before a flurry of white passed their vision and no time to react before it was gone. Kiyoko was running for her life. Jumping over fallen branches or sometimes just crashing through them. The air was silent if you could block out her heavy panting and hard thudding of feet on the ground. Kiyoko was usually quite clumsy, but when it came to running at full speed, she whipped and weaved her way through the trees as well as the wind could. But even Kiyoko had no idea what she was running from. It had been getting late and the young Pyrenees was making her way back towards the dens. Childish minds are easily warped, though. She began with a simple thought of monsters, laughing it off. There were no such thing as monsters! She continued on her way. Then the noises started. A hoot of an owl, rabbits rustling in the foliage. The wind whistling through the trees. Her large head begain getting lower and lower, eyes darting every which way. What had really done her in was the simple moonlit shadow of a deer drinking from the lake, she was gone. In her mind, the hoot was a warning. The rustlings were stalking creatures. The wind were screams. And the deer? The deer was her worst nightmare. Monsters really did exist!
Lights out. Kiyoko had fortunate ability to black out her mind when something frightened her. She would remember none of these things once her mind and heart had settled. Nothing but the simple wonderings of how she had gotten so far from her original destination would remain. Racing through the shrubs and small trees, she wouldn't have noticed her nearing companion even if she had been sound of mind. But in the end, it was the compainion who brought her back to life. Tripping over it's bulky frame, Kiyokos face slammed into the ground and skidded to a stop quite a few feet from where she had fallen.
When her mind awoke, she was laying down. She didn't remember ever laying down, oh... she must have fell asleep! Raising her body and stretching it out as if she had been sleeping for ages, she groaned, opened her jaw as wide as it could go and yawned. Her long pink muscle within stretching itself out before curling back into her maw. Her light pant returned but was quickly interrupted. Turning her whole body towards the creature, her tongue half hanging out of her maw, she tilted her head slightly to the right. Ears raised as far as their folded form could go, a look of confusion sweeping her face as she tried to figure this unusual mammal out.

The small, squirming treat was chewed and forced down his chute in only a moments time. Barely enough to drive the annoyance of his stomach away long enough to figure a plan of action. His wide rib cage expanded only to be contracted swiftly forcing a humph from between clenched teeth. A small, pink muscle slipped from his short snout messily cleaning black lips as if there could possibly be any left over matter from the tiny rodent. In reality he made more of a disaster upon his maw then his meal had, saliva hardening the sleek fur as it dried. Narrowed eyes surveyed the area as if he were able to see a blessed thing, the only sign of him through the darkness were the two white pinpricks of reflections as the scarce light touched his optics.
It came suddenly. A thumping of heavy paws, the sound of a racing heart beat as it fled for it's life. Was something out hunting large game again? Perfect! Perhaps he could manage to snatch part of the carcass. This lazy old weasel hated hunting more then anything and would much rather act as scavenger of the island. It was a dirty job but somebody had to clean up the mess. Small, round radars twitched toward the direction of the assumed hunt, whiskers shimmying on either side of his nose as he considered if he should follow now or sniff out the death after the action was over with.
He was surely expecting action, however they type he was about to encounter was quite a surprise. Before he could scurry out of the way a white flash collided with his solid frame, one large paw shoving itself into his mouth that had fallen agape in his shock. A series of growls mumbled over the foot, finally flowing in a lengthy river of curses toward the creature that dare touch him! Who the hell did they think they were? With thick pillars spread widely they all sprang simultaneously into the atmosphere spinning the wolverine around to view the fallen canine. He landed with a thud in a wide girthed stance prepared for a fight. Long, slender talons ripped into the earth as if they had a mind of their own as the thick hide of browns and blacks shuffled upon his rounded back. It was a time bomb slowly ticking down until it was time to explode.
The baffled expression twisting the white dog's face would be enough to make most chuckle and forgot about the entire ordeal, but not this brute. He was going to teach this pup a lesson or two about manners. Slowly the fur along his spinal column began to rise, one heavy, deliberate step taken toward the yawning creature. A low, menacing snarl snaked from his clenched teeth, flickers of saliva spraying her face with each emphasis, "Just who do you think you are exactly?" Little did he know the mindset of this over sized pup.

Her tongue stuck out of the left side of her maw, head still slightly crooked as she studied the odd creature in front of her. Very un-Kiyoko like, she was still unsure of what to do next. The thoughts raced through her mind. What an odd looking doggie. Quickly, she decided that if she were odd looking that she would want to be treated the same as everyone else! It was only fair afterall. And Kiyoko was more than fair. She sucked in a large quantity of air before slamming her ancons on the ground, sending various debris flying into the air. Her large fluffy flag waved wildly behind her, nearly shaking herself off her back feet. Both paws walked slowly to the left, trying to catch up with her manic tail. Her tongue now lolled out of her mouth as she panted hard, the excitement of it all getting the best of her.
"Hi! I am Kiyoko, yes! What is your name? You are a very odd looking doggie, did you know that? What is your breed?", a large shocked gasp escaped her maw... as another odd thought crossed her mind. "Oh, I bet you are a very special breed! I bet you can do all kinds of fun stuff, yes sir. I bet you can climb trees and dig holes faster than Erida herself and I bet you can see in the dark and take down prey two hundred times your size and I bet that you are a really good friend and you like to play a lot like me!"
Kiyoko was finding it rather hard to catch her breath after all her out loud considerations. She finally slammed her entire body to the ground, tail still flailing wildly behind her. Her whole body seemed to be bouncing up and down with each pant, a large grin spread across her maw. She thought that she had waited for a reply long enough. Figured that the funny looking dog must have forgotten she was here. "Yeah?!" She knew she must be right about this furry little creature. She was always right about future best friends.
