The pure black German Shepard made her way through the under growth silently as she could. Her eyes searched from side to side for any movement. She may be new to these lands but that does not mean she would be welcomed with open arms. She halted near some exotic looking flowers. The scents here were sweet, comforting. Vaugly she remembered smelling some of these very flowers in the bedroom when the man had gone away for a time. A low whine escaped as the smell seemed to surround her completly. WHY! Why me? Why us? She never hurt us. Never. Even if he did she never laid a hand on us. Why? The thoughts burned through her body. A deep shiver ran through her body as she continued to wander. How can the silence be so deafening? Even the birds and the small critters are nothing compared to a voice calling to you... she sighed. Her own voice breaking the silence briefly.

Although the memories still managed to haunt her it had become such a relief to find a place to call home finally. Never did she imagine that her very own brother whom she hadn't seen in two years would be her savior. It had been some time since she freely wandered in the day light without worry of encountering another, and it was feeling quite nice. Toriety had taken it upon herself to go explore her new found homelands and learn as much as possible about the terrain. Out of all of the places that had explored this seemed to be her favorite so far. The fluffy rust colored fae had found refuge upon a large boulder jutting out of the large waterfall, her white under carriage resting upon the moss that called the rock home. Her broad face rested idly upon crossed alabaster limbs simply gazing over the edge and watching the two water sources collide through the misty cloud below. It was the first time that the female akita had found peace since the disaster.
Her silence was abruptly interrupted by the soft sigh of another approaching. Triangular auds perked upon their perch, her skull raising to allow a better view of what was happening below. As the dark figure came into view the female slowly rose upon her haunches, head tilted slightly. She was new here and was quite unsure if this wandering shepherd was actually part of the pack or not. The stranger was downwind, the breeze forcing toriety's scent over the lands and preventing her from gaining any knowledge via scent.

The black figure halted, her eyes searching the new image before her. Amidest the foliage and vegitation was another canine. Slowly she began to approach, the hair lightly raising on her back. Smells safe.... She halted a few feet away, her eyes locked on the other figure. She knew no one here, and for a moment she wished the familiar form of her husky "sister" was beside her. There was nothing they need fear if the other was by her side. But that would never be again anyway... Hello? Her voice sounded almost hollow for a moment. She shouldnt be so afraid. After all, the chances were if it came down to a fight she could latch on and defend herself... I'm just so tired of the fighting... I can't take another battle. There has been too much as it is, and the disaster was how long ago? Her thoughts would be the death of her. How could she fully move on she always dwealt on the past. I didn't mean to startle you... I was simply looking for somewhere safe... My... Her voice began to break. Ishtar had been the one who told her seek out this place. She knew I wouldn't last long living alone and in silence... She knows I'm not like her... Wherever she is... With a deep sigh she looked at the other femme again. Someone told me I may find this place agreeable. Unfortunatly she does not. But I am thankful for the small hint. It is really beautiful here... She paused for a moment. My name is Nikita. She tried to sound friendly, hide the nervousness from voice. Though she was sure some of it was sneaking through.

The slight tension that had unnerved the Akita eased as the gentle, yet questioning words were offered from the shepherd. Although she were now safe upon her brother's lands her muscles still constricted, and her heart still thumped rapidly within the presence of another canine. The habits of a hermit still ran deep having been alone for 2 years solid. As the muscles within her began to relax her lips tightened into a small smile offering a friendly appearance. The thick tail shifted side to side upon her back while her skull titled slightly off balance to better hear the voice as it echoed off of the large boulders building the falls.
Without any verbal response the full coated fae rose to her full height. She fluidly sprung from one rock to the next as she climbed the stone wall downward. Oval shaped paws very lightly touched the granite with each landing, being sure to avoid the darkened areas and the moss which told of a slippery surface. It only took a short time before the final landing, reassured by the softness of spring time grasses. Her curled plume began to wag slowly once more as the female straightened from her final leap, a soft, soprano voice rang through the air, "Well, hello there, Nikita." The damsel's smile widened a few steps taken closer. A broad head lowered to shoulder level as optics evaluated the fellow fae, rounded triangles stood in a friendly, yet alert manner. "I'm known as Toriety, it's a pleasure to meet you." Nares widened her head shifting side to side at the end of her well muscled neck searching the atmosphere for the newcomer's scent. It took only a moment of windless peace to confirm that this shepherd was indeed a loner. "I am new here as well, although my brother, Tobi, is alpha of the lands. They are quite beautiful. I was just exploring here myself."

She seemed to smile back, her eyes not quiet showing the warmth of it. It was hard, to truly be happy without the constant companionship of her mistress. The presence, the need to guard and protect never left her, and she doubted it ever fully would.
"It is very beautiful. I am looking for somewhere safe to call home. Hopefully for a long time..." Her voice trailed off for a moment as she dipped her head. Whether out of respect for the alpha's sister or meerly out of submission she did not know. But either way the message, she hoped was clear.
I do not want any trouble. I want peace... for once in my life.
Thankfully her wounds had healed properly. She showed no limp in her step, nor were there scars covering her body. Her coat hid them well. But there was no hiding the pain in her eyes. That would remain for years to come. Even now, amonst the shadows, she waited to hear the call. A woman, frantic and worried by now from not seeing her, calling and searching for Ishtar and her. It had happened before, when they were a year old and wandered too far from sight.
She should have known we would come back. No matter what he did, we always came back. We could not leave her alone. I loved her too much...
The thought burned her mind and she shook her head to clear her thoughts. She was here to try and begin a new, regardless of what that meant. There was no use dwelling forever in the past, though the past would always shape her future.

It became quite obvious that this black shepherd lass had something on her mind, yet Toriety refused to show sympathy for the fae. Sure, sue understood how heartbroken she must be over what had happened, yet she had found the only cure was to not wallow in the misery that they all had felt. Her grin simply widened, tail flowing side to side as it curled over her back. Several light bounces upon her paws brought her even closer to the female, a bubbly voice rolling from her maw, "Well, I'm sure that Tobi wouldn't mind you staying here upon the lands. He will have final say if you may join or not, but I don't see there being a problem." If anything, Toriety was a wonderful judge of character and this shepherdess beamed with a warmth and sincerity that she had not encountered in quite some time.
Perhaps as a measure to make the fellow canine more comfortable, or maybe she simply couldn't control herself the akita's front end dropped upon her bony elbows. Her rear shifted left to right as her tail wagged in a playful gesture. Toriety's chin lay between her two spread forelegs against the damp grass while staring through rounded orbs. Would the other welcome the gesture or turn her down?

The femme laughed, a smile reaching her eyes. Her chocolate colored orbs remained on the other fae as she danced around before her, letting out a playful bark. Her tail began to wag.
It is good to have some fun... You can't let the sorrow eat at you... she thought. How true that was. She danced a bit closer, then darted back, spinning in a circle. For a moment she stopped another bark, not wanting to alarm Toriety. Her eyes locked on, a playful gleam flashing through them. She placed her paws firmly apart and lowered her head between the two. Her entire back end was now wagging with her tail.
For a moment, the sorrow and pain of the past did not matter. She could live in the moment. She had found more like her. That was what mattered. Perhaps, with companionship, she would learn to move on past her grief and begin a new life.

Auds pushed forward as the playful gestures were returned by the shepherd. The akita's front half lifted, her rear thrusting her nearer to the other female and dropping loudly against the earth once more. The entire rear that stood straight up in the air shimmied with excitement at the first opportunity for play since the tragedy occurred showed itself. A deep growl bounced from her chest and up her throat before erupting into a loud, sharp set of barks. It was apparent that it was all in good fun by the soft expression holding onto her features and the waving of her curled tail.
Dainty paws pulled her frame closer to the other dog, her chest sliding across the earth leaving behind bending blades of grass and the sweet scent of the greenery. Her head tilted, the left side laying close to the ground as her jaws spread and snapped gently toward the limbs of the other canine. Playful growls ping ponging through her chest as she attempted to engage her new friend some more.
