Failure. It's an ugly word...especially when the result is the loss of a dear friend. But the Animorphs had failed to retrieve Ax, and returned to earth in utter defeat. More depressed than ever, the Animorphs returned to their lives.
Marco returned to the movie and talk show circuit, least affected by the tragedy of losing Rachel, and now Ax as well. Jake became a mild mannered, average person; leading as normal a life as he could, and not drawing attention to himself. Cassie became a veteranarian, and the head of the Alien Relations Commitee (ARC). Tobias...well, no one knows; he vanished soon after returning to earth.
A year after the other Animorphs had returned, shocking news reached Cassie at ARC. Somehow the humans had discovered that the Andalites had nearly resorted to genocide to defeat the Yeerks on earth. They also discovered the truth about what had happened to the Hork-Bajir home world.
The President of the United States declared the Andalites a tyrant race, resorting to volatile means to fix mistakes they had made in the first place. He called the other nations to aid him in a war against the Andalite people. Despite pleas from Cassie, the other Nations and the USA have decided to go to war against the Andalite people.
Both sides have morph capable soldiers...who will win?
