Exploring was such a huge part of his life that 409 almost began to speculate on how much there really was left to explore on the island. Word had gotten out that a new land had burst through the ash to the West of where he was now, but 409 amazingly was quite reluctant to seek it out considering his sociable nature. Perhaps it would be nothing but a waste of time. If it just arose from the volcanic ashes then there surely was no life there, right? No reason to go.
Snow wasn't abnormal for this particular section of the island. What was abnormal was just how much there was. 409 found the old trail he had followed countless times was completely covered in the snow and that trekking along where he thought it used to be took three times the amount of energy and time as usual. There were sections that allowed travel to be much easier, the white sticky substance only reached a fraction of the height as what he stood in right at this moment. The smart thing to do would be to direct himself towards the lighter drifts, but how interesting would that really be? Every animal would be using those trails, there would be nothing new for him to see that something else hadn't already a thousand times.
A smirk creased the left side of his face as he spotted exactly what he was looking for. With the ash gone now, the view would be something heard only in tales from the peak he was not heading towards. Upon cresting it, a rush of wind nearly swept him off the ground. He adjusted his balance and allowed the breeze to whip through his long pelt. If he could cry, this would be a moment the tears would start filling his orbs. The sight wasn't what he expected, no, it was far more appealing. Staring out towards the west, 409s eyes strained to see further than he knew he really could, trying to spot this new land that had emerged. He stood there, perfectly still, staring for quite a long time before a defeated sigh escaped his maw and his eyes fell downward, scanning the ground below the peak he now stood upon.
It took little to no time to spot the movements and his eyes strained once again to determine exactly what it was. A smile formed on his face the recollection that the moving figure was indeed another canine passed through his ever moving mind. Turning around, he silently moved down the cliff for further investigations.
