The air hadn't held the sweet aromatic scent that had followed the members of this pack - of her pack. Weeks had passed since she first began her circling of the border that stretched for miles along her home territory. It had been all a part of her duty as an Elysian family member had it not? She had to guard the lands from the other packs, had to warn those that were hiding deep within the invisible fence line. Though she outwardly would deny that this was the end of the do-gooders, the end of those who still so deeply loved their human families, deep down the truth was apparent. This was the end of Elysian.
For all of those weeks Caela seemed to be the only one to step paw upon the beautiful lands. The only one to check for intruders. Yet, now it felt as if she were the intruder. She was that one last friend that overstayed their welcome. These lands were now returning to the other creatures of the island. Due to the lack of predatory presence many herds had found refuge here. Her flowing, white frame sat motionless next to the powerful falls. Beads of water embellished feminine features as the fall forced the liquid to plunge into the pool below. Crystalline orbs matching the hues of the crisp fluid scaled the height of the falls to her right taking in the beauty of the strength as well as the delicacy of each bloom that dotted the rocks building up the massive falls. Slightly rounded receptors perched themselves in an alert fashion upon the fae's crown blindly watching for a sign of intrusion. Part of her hoped for an attack. Perhaps she would simply sit and pretend she didn't hear them coming, allowing the crashing of the waters to fill her senses. Why was it that every time she became more comfortable she was left alone...over and over again?
The confusion had just begun to fade into the background as the emptiness was slowly filled with new memories....her memories. Memories of her pack and the fun they'd had in the short time she was with them. Memories of the pain that stung her heart as the Metnal warrior had dragged the deceased pack mates bodies to the hills. The sorrow she felt for Crow after hearing the story of the young coyotes bravery and hard lesson learned from her encounter with the Metnal alphess. Here it was creeping over her intellect once more, like a black fog threatening to steal everything she knew from her. White shades pinched closed over blue optics so tightly that the smooth features of the wolfess were replaced with creases. The pain was so much more tolerable then the nothingness that often found her.
Only a few moments later lids freed her gaze with a heavy sigh. She could not just simply mope about. There was at least one other member left and together they'd find a way to survive normally. With two at least neither were a loner. There was companionship. Auds laid themselves gently against her skull as an inky digit lifted itself to the sky. Jaws fell agape only slightly as the air remaining within her lungs was forced out into a melodic howl. The notes pirouetted through the atmosphere, reaching far across the lands calling for those of the Elysian Pack to come to her. Teeth touched together gently, head lowering to a parallel position with the earth below. Though she hoped for several bodies to appear in response to her call, only one was truly expected.

A shadow followed the coyote. Her one eye was set on nothing but a potential enemy or danger. She went a relatively normal pace, just one paw after the other, but slightly limping of a recent battle. A patrol was being held, even though it was only one coyote. Her ears swept at many angles, catching nearly every movement in range. Crow walked aimlessly throughout the Elysian territory, alone and alive.
A howl had stopped the coyote, which echoed across the land. She of course, was a bit confused by this, but nonetheless but walked towards the canine who start the sound. A fast pace replaced the slow one, thus meeting the wolf in little time.
It was no other than Caela herself, the healer who took care of Crow herself while time cured most of the wounds, inflicted bye the Metnal Alphess. As the white wolf came to view, Crow dipped her head in respect. She had cured most of her wounds after all, why not show respect for the wolf?
The wounds are still showing, with multiple scars and a blind eye to prove it. The warrior's apprentice was gone on a small trip to invade a pack's territory. Well maybe it wasn't so small, due to the fact that it had caused two deaths. The Elysian pack still mourned for them, even at this time.

The light that had sparked within her eyes since joining the Elysians now began to fade, nothingness fogging them over just as before. Confusion had to be the worst emotion for the alabaster wolfess, yet it was something she knew all too well. The fae was completely silent, the soft exchange of atmospheric gasses giving off the most miniscule sounds. In the distance other earthly songs were abundant from the large variety of song birds, to the deer munching on the sweet grasses.
The background music was interrupted by another, more baritone, note. The near silent paw falls pressing into the thick foliage drew a feminine head around to face the direction the coyote was approaching from. Only now did the concern dissipate from Caela's face being replaced with a warm, welcoming smile. Despite what was truly within her heart or mind it was not fair to instill fear into Crow. She would keep the calm demeanor she was well known for, quiet and gentle for the young warrior's sake. Pale lips tightened more as the young canine dropped her skull in respect, Caela's own crown following with a soft sigh. "Good morning, Crow. How are you feeling?" Her question would normally be taken as something quite generic, yet it was obvious where the wolfess' concerns were. Although most of the wounds inflicted upon the juvenile were no longer visible there was still that small chance of infection, and the blinded eye was still a concern. Icy optics slid along the coyote's frame taking in the status of each past wound and those that remained.
All seemed rather well with her companion, which pleased Caela quite well. It had been quite some time since she needed to use any healing knowledge and it was refreshing to know that she had not unlearned what she had been taught in the past. Not wanting to waste time with her concerns for both of their safety here upon the lands her head canted slightly to the side, wrinkles etching within her furry forehead in a thoughtful fashion. "I think we need to find elsewhere to stay, Crow. I'm afraid that we may be the only ones left and if those Metnal dogs hold any sort of grudge there is no way for just the two of us to hold out against them." Generally she would sugar coat her words quite a bit more, yet her concern was growing with each moment. The image of the Metnal shepherd that had brought Toriety and Nuclear's bodies back home had haunted her since his departure. He knew they were alone. Surely he would report to his queen of the knowledge he had.

A calm breeze passed of Barzakh lands as a young brute made his way down a narrow path. It was a path he had created himself that rested on the outskirts of the pack's territory. He used it for patrolling and when he wanted to get away. Dark paws trekked across the hard, grassy ground, coming close to the bank of a river. His pale brown eyes scanned the surroundings, auds perking to capture each sound. He then lowered his head and lapped quietly at the water, just enough to quench his thirst. He then let his lean muscled, flaxen body collapse onto a soft grassy area, surrounded by bare muddy portions.
His dark paws crossed in front of him before he rested his dark maw on them. He closed his eyes for a moment, taking in the peace of his surroundings. He was well aware of the insecurity of the times and the oncoming merger due to a lack of population. He let out a sigh, just wanting to relax a moment and enjoy what peace he did have. He had only been a member of Barzakh for a few short months, but he knew all about what had been going on. His auds which had been resting, pinned to his skull, had perked up once again. A lone howl had echoed across the the area to where he now laid. He wasn't sure where it came from. He lifted his head off his paws, looking toward the direction of the howl.
He then lifted his body off the ground, keeping his head low and staring off in the how's direction. He tilted his head, then looked toward the trail. He took off up the trail and detoured off to one side, where the howl originated. He slowed down once he came close and padded over to a tree, staying behind it. In a clearing by a waterfall he noticed two canines. One, a pure white wolfess, while the other appeared to be a coyote. He kept his head low, tuning in on the conversation. He pulled his lips back into a sort of smirk.
He shook out his flaxen, brown pointed pelt and shifted his weight a little. He didn't want to make his presence known just yet. He'd wait for the wolfess and coyote to notice him. It would only be a matter of time, considering Silas was a pretty decent sized brute. It was hard not to notice him.
