“Stupid rabbit.” Kala grumbled in frustration. Her ears pinned back flat on her head as she tried to once again flush out the tiny little meal that thus far as eluded her at every turn. Air was sucked in and out of her lanky frame, chest lifting and falling with each struggled breath as she watched the little ball of fluff. Why she even went after something with more ears them hide was beyond her but hunger was a formidable opponent so she pressed on. Might as well admit to the fact that she had this little flaw called stubbornness and it has given her trouble more times then helped. For a long moment Kala waited, watching every movement the rabbit took or did not take the fur balls rapid breathing was taken into account and processed as all things were with Zitkala from the fall of the snow that even now started to cover her meal to the sounds of the animals around her. Kala was not strong or fast so what little skills she did have the petite runt used to their full advantage. The game was tedious to her but necessary at the same time each move she made was to herd the little fluff so she could go in for the well. Ripping the root up was not an option all it would gain her was a lost meal or a hurt paw so that curse of action was discarded as quickly as she thought about it.
Wet nose twitched just a little when her tummy gave a low rumble, she had not eaten in days and starvation was forcing her to make mistakes that she normally would not have. Her unkempt fur rippled as muscles flexed and trembled with anticipation. She was so close, she could not afford to loose now, not when her life depended on it, the chances of getting another meal was slim and in her weakened state she was sure to fail an option she hated because even the word left a bitter taste in her mouth. Another deep breath was sucked in, her body vibrated to life with renewed energy as if she was a snake just now striking. The sudden movement alerted the rabbit to dash off to the right and head straight to a small opening under a deeply rooted tree. Kala anticipated the small beasts thought possess so she skillfully shifted her lanky frame to the right of the animal her meal that even now she could taste. As was projected the rabbit changed speed and direction and reluctantly was herded to a flimsy looking patch of branches and in the rabbit went.
Kala slipped, she chided herself for her clumsiness but recovered quickly enough to gain the missed ground when her meal rushed under the patch of twigs. Slight muscles tightened around her as she recoiled knowing if she rushed the rabbit again it would run and she would always be a few paw steps between so like always she used her mind to win. This was maybe her last attempt to get this beast so she took that chance, hanging on to the hope that she would fill her belly for the night. The cold was biting at her making it hard to even concentrate but she pushed on. All at once, Kala let her muscles spring into life, they propelled her up and forward all at the same time. Once again, she cursed her lack of speed and strength. In just a second Kala was flexing her front paws out and down, positioning right over the rabbits shivering body. The landing was harder then she anticipated but she managed to push her full weight into snapping the dry branches that hide the ball of fluff under. A loud SQUEAK was heard and the snapping of teeth when Kala flexed her head around and closed her jaws around the rabbits butt. Good going Kala. She said to herself just as the rabbit shifted and struggled in her hold. If anyone ever told you that the teeth of a rabbit did not hurt they LIED! That little bugger turned around and bit Kala on the cheek sinking its evil teeth into her flesh.
Instinctively the petite she-wolf flung her head back and opened her locked jaws that in turn released the rabbit from her grasp and was thrown to the side. Lucky for her she snapped the animal’s spine. A low guttural growl escaped her lips, she was angry and was showing it in a display with her head down, her ears flat and her lips furled but she calmed down after a little while and moved over to the dead rabbit. She knew she had not really killed it, in fact, she was a poor excuse for a wolf but she would never admit that. Quickly Kala padded over to the rabbit and lowered down to eat, she ate with a ravenous display that was her own true wolf perfection. Kala had a blood lust that she tried to control but it always nipped at her.

The black and white border collie was totally at peace, in a light slumber that was brought on by a dash of his power, a sprinkle of singing canaries and a pinch of the lovely breeze that rolled through the trees. A smile was permanently etched into his maw, only disappearing when another canine had some woeful tale to express to him.
409 had entered upon the freelands merely out of boredom. The Henka pack, to which he belonged to, seemed to be so empty to him. He knew all the members of it, knew all their stories, and he was in need of something new and fresh. He figured traveling into unknown lands would provide this simple excitement he craved but thus far he hadn't ran into anything to fulfill his craving for conversation. The few he had come across seemed nearly disgusted by his complete willingness to approach them, others ignored him and went on their way. Of course this didn't deter 409 in any way. He could spend days out here searching until he found what he needed.
Because of his soft slumber, it took almost nothing at all to arise him. His eyes fluttered open from the sounds of scuffling, growling, squeaks. He knew these sounds all too well. Nonetheless, he turned to his side before forcing his legs to make him turn upright. He went straight towards the sounds, not bothering to shake the debris from his black and white pelt. His tongue was lolling out, bouncing with each step he took, eyes focused on the foliage just in front of him until he burst through the final line of trees that separated him from the wolf fae that was enjoying her latest kill.
Without hesitation, he Border Collie trotted right up to her, stopping mere feet from her bloodied meal, all smiles. There was indeed nothing special about this wolf. Others wouldn't dare go near the word beautiful when in reference to her, but luckily 409 did not see things as others did. There was beauty everywhere. Her pelt appeared a dark mixture of black and brown but when the sun hit her just right, a reddish colour exposed itself. This was beautiful to 409. Even if he felt something wasn't glorious in physical appearances, he could easily change it to suit his liking. A grin appeared on his maw as he thought that there was nothing he could do to his fae to make her any more beautiful.
"Well, hello there. Name's 409, love. Hope I'm not intruding on your.. feast." His eyes glinted briefly down to the broken rabbit that rested peacefully in front of her. He wasn't trying to be sarcastic, that wasn't his way. He was merely trying to congratulate her.
What might has seemed odd to everyone else was how this brute made out that everyone was a friend. Regardless of where their loyalty was, he would engage in friendly conversation. No worries at all. The moment he needed to worry, though, he would simply inflict his power on to the opposing party. What this fae didn't know yet was that he was able to make all other living creatures turn a variety of colours, consisting of cyans, yellow and magentas. And with all of those colours would come a feeling of complete and utter peace and joy. Of course, the joyful feelings were just the bottom of his barrel of tricks. The border collie could just as easily force all of his power on a creature and make them slip into a nearly blinding euphoria. Luckily for them all, he wouldn't force these feelings on anyone unless his life was threatened... but he had no problem sending a slight flicker of happiness their way to give the idea of what he was capable of.
For now, he appeared as if he were a perfectly normal canine. To make things interesting eventually, he knew the brilliant colours would need to reveal themselves if for no other reason than to give this fae a light show unlike anything she had ever seen.

Far to engrossed in her latest and only kill in a nearly a week Kala had lost track of the sounds, of anything for that matter that might warn her of a potential threat. All that mattered was the rabbit and its lifeless body that she feasted on. Normally Kala was more graceful when she ate but she did not care today, just the need to fill her tummy as quickly as she could before another wolf or dog found her to steal her food. Air with pumped into her lungs and exhaled quickly so that the process could be repeated in her attempt to quite literally 'wolf' down her food. True she did not have the brute strength or size to take down a head on attack she had to learn to be manipulative about things and pick the best course of action to get the task down.
Kala did not notice the black and white male until he spoke and by that time she had almost finished the meal leaving only a little of the right side. Lifted her head up and turning to look directly at him and instinctively thought she might have to run, give him the kill, he smelled of a pack and in her experience where there is one there is bound to be another. This left her at a disadvantage and quickly Kala tallied her odds against him or how fast she could run. Muscles tightened and flexed as she repositioned herself for flight or fight not an aggressive stance, Kala did not survived her old pack and their mistreatment of her to make foolish calls when trying to get out a live.
Ears pushed forward, her tail low not really out of submissive but more along the lines of a show of respect and a display of her weakness. Most dogs and wolfs dismissed her if she let them think how utterly weak she was, she was of not pleasure to them. Dark, deep red amber eyes followed his every move, wandered over his long, silk black spots that perfectly switched to white without a common fade. His ears did not stand up and that odd question hit her, she wondered if he could hear her. Did the fact that his ears lay flat affect his hearing and if so how did he walk around without another dog or wolf to protect him? Slowly she let her eyes travel to his own eyes, intense and yet friendly, this put her a little more at ease but she could not surrender all her old habits just because the male was easy on the eyes, for a dog that is.
In a tender voice that clearly hide the fear and nervousness, Kala said. "I am Zitkala and... I... I am done with the rabbit if you wish it. I do not want any trouble I mean not harm." She did not back up she did not move only waited, watching him as carefully as a deer might watch a lurking predator.

It wasn't that 409 didn't notice her uneasiness, he did, and took it into deep consideration. In fact, it was something that weighed heavily on his mind as it tugged back and forth on the idea of easing her fear forcefully or ignoring the pang to release his lovely power and try to just talk her down, the old fashioned way. The consideration may have tossed and turned in his head but the wolf fae wouldn't have known this. His simply blissful expression held it's own.
He looked exactly what he was. So obviously high on some drug, or perhaps it was just life. Eyes were slitted, his tongue hung loosely from the side of his maw and his breath was completely relaxed. Quick deep breaths passing through his pearly white teeth. Panting from the wonderful feelings twirling around in his body.
When she began speaking to him, his eyes closed momentarily from the sound. Like music to his ears, making the feelings rush into his stomach and push the organ upwards... at least that's what it felt like. Although when he noticed the respectful stance and slight stutter in her voice everything changed. At first he merely tilted his head in confusion. Ears pushed forward and his dark brown orbs widened.
Then, all he could do was laugh. Not really at her, but at the fact that she felt he, of all canines, deserved any form of the respect she was offering. Perhaps it stemmed more from the fact that he wasn't really used to it. "Ah, no, I couldn't. I tend to only eat those of which are happy about it.", he said still chuckling slightly.
Of course Zitkala would have no idea what he was talking about, but he decided not to go into it any further and changed the subject. "What brings a wolf such as yourself into these lands? I could only assume that you're not with a pack considering you're in neutral territory. Then again, perhaps you in search of something just as I am."
In the middle of his questioning, he had proceeded to lay himself down flat on the ground. Being closer to the remains of her kill, he leaned forward slightly to inspect it. Even with his abilities, he couldn't see a way to make the mangled mess of bone and fur look any more appealing to the eye.
OOC: lulz, sorry... I felt him coming out but then half way through I lost the muse kind of... damn distractions *shakes fist*
