History: Koi was descendant from a long proud line of hunters, most of which lived with her on the same farm. For two years she trained for this day, her human partner at her side. Both shaking with anticipation. The boy's father had finally decided they were ready for their first bird hunt. At the single word whispered by the boy she was off like a rocket, bolting into the underbrush to flush the pheasants from their places of cover.
It was the last time she ever saw her beloved boy's face, with a yelp and the sound of a slamming grate her life was forever changed. She heard her boys frantic calls, could hear the Boss man plowing through the thick underbrush, but the effort was futile, they had not reached her in time. A sharp pin prick caused her to jerk sideways slamming into the side of the cage, that was when the blackness pulled her down, swallowing her whole.
When next she woke it was into a life of hell, where people in lab coats poked and prodded. Injections that made her feel woozy, unnatural. Others gave her and intense rage, and others still brought a sharp clarity of knowledge. Then there were the time when they'd put her to sleep, when she woke the skin across the top of her head and oddly enough her skull itself hurt something fierce, it wasn't until later that she realized they'd performed some type of surgery on her. At the end of each day she find herself unable to move, blanketed in a hazy fog that prevented any form of coherent thought.
The explosion left her cage mangled, the jagged ends of the steel bars bit savagely into her flesh as she squeezed, twisted and pulled herself from the rubble. Time and an uncanny sense of plant life helped heal the physical scars, though the mental ones linger still hidden from the world.
Personality: Something was done to her during that surgery, something that drastically changed the fun loving canine with a heart of gold into an emotionless creature. Dispassionately she tends her duties as a healer, another 'gift' given at the compound a strange innate knowledge of herbal lore. Still the seed of sorrow hangs over this beasts shoulders, deep in her heart she remembers what it was like to laugh, to run, to love, but now there was only an emptiness. A vast darkness that whose void swallowed everything else up.
