Long timbers, thicken with lean muscles carried the mahogany brute forward, through the soot charred halls, carefully avoiding the sharp prick of broken glass from the various peek-a-boo windows that opened up to reveal surgical rooms even the remains of the occasional canine who hadn't been so lucky as to managed to escape confinement. The labs skeletal remains found themselves within his pack's territories. The soulless buildings found the Ridgeback within its barren walls frequently. A reminder of the past, and the pain.
There were some within his pack that had a harder life then he himself had experience. Before he'd failed his officer he'd been a proud police dog. Not only was his training at the Academy for drug detection but also as an attack dog, and he was damned good at it. Though the kill was something he'd had to develop after the explosion that had released not only him but others as well. But there were others whose talents lay more toward obtaining food then his own skills.
Just as it had in the past so frequently, the thought of rank brought to mind the packs lack of a firm leader. True they were doing alright thus far, but it was time he supposed. it was a position he'd contemplated for the last few weeks. What had stalled his decision was the past. The last person who'd depended upon his strength, keen senses, and intelligence ended up six feet under. It wasn't an experience he wished to repeat anytime soon. But it was apparent as time passed that no one was willing to step up.
The light that suddenly lashed across his vision halted his thoughts as swiftly as that muscular frame paused. The whiskey of that gaze shifted carefully over the terrain, studying the various shadows cast by the buildings surrounding the seemingly empty courtyard. An ironic grin twisted charcoal lips, it would be fitting that it would be here that he would lay his claim as the packs official alpha. Here where the one way of life had ended and another had begun twice over.
With the decision made the weight of that cranium tilted backward vocals opening up into a long loud howl calling to the members of Tartarus, drawing them toward the heart of their hatred to witness the naming of their new alpha. Just as suddenly as the howl had escaped it was extinguished with a snapping of those jaws. Patience enveloped the canine while that glittering fiery gaze twisted this way and that, seeking the tell tale signs that would herald the approach of his pack mates. Outwardly he was coolly collected, but deep inside that heart thundered with excitement and trepidation. Soon it would be time...

She had been avoiding the others these past few days, a long frame slipping along the wilderness that was growing around the damned place. The very same place that killed half of her own team, and left the rest too wounded to love longer. As the memories floated along her dial she shook her muzzle, beads of water neatly sliding off her muzzle and landing on the pool before her, creating a gentle mass of ripples. If only her master was here now, to see how much she'd grown up, how much better she was then the rest of the teams, but alas, we all knew that would never come. The water lightly flickered against her chest as her pads seemed ducted into the mashed underground of the lake as she took a moment of silence.
Niveda had come to reason that she was rather powerful, but not powerful enough to leave the area that destroyed her past all too well. Muttering curses below those blood colored lips she lowered her joints, sinking beneath the murky waters completely. The water that once were calm, now churned as the being submerged and then arose. The beads of water slowly made their way down her neck, spine and chest, inking her coat with an even darker shade then her liver coat. Completely wet she waded towards the bank, her pads widening to fully balance her on the shifty terrain until she was on solid ground. You could say she looked like a beaver, fur tightly concealed to her skin, and illustriously wet.
Once her claws raked the ground, her muscles leaning forward onto her shoulders, she dragged herself up, leaving a trail of dark water behind her. Looking around she suddenly stood rigid before wagging her shoulders, breaking into a tremendous shake that violently split the liquid from her pelt. One could say like the very blood was trembling as her pelt shook out, the way the after-noon sunlight would dawn upon it. Her tail moved like a whip, slapping against her quarters as her forelegs parted out a bit more. Growling slowly she finished rinsing her coat out and moved away, her movements steady and firm. Behind her was a trail, marked with the smaller beads of water that dripped from her underbelly and banner-like tail.
Her pelt was moving to her fluids as she extended her thick and lean pillars out upon the earth. Muscles constricting and loosening to the rotational pull, ears perked up, the red demon looked like a deadly leader. A male that did rival her size was Dante, a consort that was running for alpha as well. Her mind was high on wondering who was to be chosen, but she was at complete ease. Picking her way through the forest, much like an artist picks the perfect colors for a masterpiece she made her way over roots that were gnarled and reaching out. It reminded her of the souls lost, reaching for salvation, which never did come. the branches moved under her pass, the female's size was to be reckoned with, and thin twigs were no match for her own walk.
And then she heard it, a howl that worked more like an alarm to the ones that heard it. Something tugged in her mind as she halted, the ground being forced to dent under the pressure her forelegs added into them. It was Dante's calling to the pack, letting them no it was show time. Blinking slowly, she shook her head before trotting forward, picking up the pace to get there. The source was at the courtyard of the lab, a place well known to hold a scene. Glancing around her, she noticed the blurred vision of other dogs racing to get there first, the best position to see. Unlike them, she stayed at a trot, her mind wondering who Dante thought he was, calling them out like that.'Fool' Niveda muttered, wondering how would it be smart to let the rest of the world know of them.
Oh but then she remembered, Dante was male, of course. Everything before her was always led by a masculine figure, why? Because they were smarter, stronger, faster? Heh not in Niveda's mind. As her adrenaline slowly built up into her blood stream, she moved closer to the group up ahead that formed around Dante. She quickly thrust-ed her way through the snapping jaws and grunts that moved here to there form other dogs. Finally, a recap of why she had been taken off the scent team, her glory was with her now. Moving from the group, into the center she now faced Dante, a deadly snarl reaching out to him. The tone was bittersweet to all those that listened to her.
Here. She stopped, standing a good few meters away, eyes locked on the male as a sadistic smirk crawled her liver lips upwards, but not a word left her lips. Healthy, power struck jaws lay hidden behind the veil of her dark curtain veils of meaty lips. And now she would wait, wondering if anyone else would step up and join this upcoming battle. Niveda was never one to conceal her emotions, she seemed stoic, pools of jaded eyes resting comfortably on the black masked male she had met before, her stance seemed balanced, well proportioned. 'Oh Niveda thought to her eager mind. 'This is going to be fun.' Inwardly she chuckled, ears set forward.

It had been a rather typical day for the large brute. There he lay within a bed of tanned reeds allowing the rays of sun to dance merrily upon an ebony pelt. The distant sounds of tongues breaking the surface of the calm body of water were like a lullaby next to the songs of birds in the distant woodlands, and the chirping noises surrounding him as a myriad of insects expressed their feelings to one another. Today Rellik seemed like your typical dog soaking up the heat. This brute was anything from typical and any that knew him generally steered clear of the callous canine. Shades rose slowly setting a set of burgundy optics free from the darkness as the nearby call made it's way toward him. A lazy gaze shifted toward the source of the call before falling back toward the lake.
The Rhodesian male's voice was broken by a clumsy, in his opinion, exit from the water. That dark imagination began to flow freely, seeming to have a mind of its own as it wandered without warning. The smooth, relaxed featured had slowly began to tighten and shift into something much more sinister. An almost manic smirk stretched charcoal lips as a sudden life lit his eyes at the silent thoughts. Perhaps this was what actually got him motivated to rise and investigate what was going on. Truly he could care less what happened within the pack whether it were hierarchy or death. The only one thing that would interest him would be if they were under attack, but the howl was not nearly alarmed enough to arouse the beast into that fantasy.
Almost directly after reaching his full height thick pillars pushed through the foliage carrying a heavy, yet seemingly lean frame with them. Cropped radars sat neatly upon his skull in an upright position simply listening to the sudden commotion of it all. Heavy thuds pounded the earth as dogs of all shapes and sizes rushed toward the courtyard to find out exactly what was going on. A heavy skull shook side to side ever so slightly as they canines were compared to a bunch of clucking hens waiting for the day's gossip. Through his peripheral vision Niveda was noticed, her pelt still slightly damp from her excursion through the lake. A single brow quirked as one side of that smirk tightened across his features as it was realized she was the one causing the disturbance within the water.
Like a slow moving shadow the Beuceron followed the crowd of canines rushing to fight for a front row seat before Dante. His interest wasn't nearly high enough to pick up more speed then a leisurely walk. Each heavy paw step shook the thick onyx pelt freeing it from natural debris that had settled during his resting. Rellik wasn't nearly concerned enough to take time to have a good shake to look presentable. He looked just as he wished. Reaching the crowd the large dog found a spot just outside of the circle within a shadow of the laboratory. Within this nook his haunches lowered until his rear was pressed against the earth. Deep red-hued irises focused upon Dante and the fae that managed to push her way through, that manic smile still placed upon his lips.

Long slender limbs would pause in their forward motion, folded twins would lift briefly while pale clear bright silver optics shifted in the direction of the Summons. No expression crossed the stony impassive visage as the fae shifted directions. Her herbal gathering must wait, other responsibilities must be met. A lithe twist to that silvered frame set the weimaraner off towards the lab. There were times when she passed beneath its shadowed presence that she could almost remember the terror she'd felt when the white coats had first put her on that cold metal table. But even those half recalled memories were swiftly fading. Soon she would not remember what it was like to feel at all, something that may have made her sad if she had the ability to feel.
The source, the reason for such an oddity might be found in the sole scar visible atop that heavy snouted cranium. It was the only moment that she bore from the time she'd spent within that hell hole.
From the shadows at the far end of the courtyard the silvered fae would emerge, picking a path amid the tumbled concrete and fallen debris until she'd finally come to a halt several feet to the left of Rellik. An impassive glance toward the sadistically grinning canine before that tarnished gaze swept across the others who'd gathered at Dante's call. It was time to chose an Alpha, she supposed, which in the end would mean wounds to patch up.
Lowering to her haunches the ground, the length of that whipcord held frozen behind as the silence of that gaze swept across the others as they jolted and jarred for they version of a perfect spot in which to watch the fight.
From her vantage point she could see the liver lab fae facing off with the sand and ebony brute. She knew from gossip that these two had a similar history. Dante had once been a police dog, trained to attack and scent out human drugs, while Niveda had been a military bomb hunting dog. Two vastly different professions, yet alike in someways. Who would come out on top? And would it really matter? Only time would tell she supposed.

Long, lanky legs carried the shadowy figure slowly through the swamps that bordered the laboratories of which he had called home for far too long. Not a single sound was carried from his soft footfalls in these claimed lands. He didn't belong here, and he knew it. But it mattered not to him, there were more important things that needed to be dealt with than some simple loner wandering around in pack lands. The howl from a domestic had pierced his auds moments before and it had taken him little to no time to follow the sound. Cursing to himself for doing so. A primal craving within his soul urged him forward, curiosity at it's finest.
Pale blue eyes, heavy with cataracts, focused entirely on the top of the old stone building that was now peering through the treeline, watching him as darkly as he gazed at it. His lids closed slightly, anger from his orbs riveting into the towering object before he redirected his vision to the entrance he knew all too well.
On first look, Erebos' eyes were defiantly not the first noticeable thing about him. Nonetheless, the deep cataracts that covered the entirety of his eyes were almost always assume to be related to blindness. He allowed others to believe this, those beliefs had proven to be an advantage to him time and time again. The main shocker of the brutes appearances were of something out of a science fiction novel. Huge dark wings sprung from his shoulders and rested as his sides as well as they could. When another noticed these appendages and the usual first shock and curiosities overcame them, a ferocious rage bubbled within his body. This was easily controllable unless, of course, it was a fae whom had the misfortune of running into him. He allowed himself to release then. In his own... special way.
A smirk grew along the right side of his maw for a instant as he thought of release. Then his features were back to being as blank as his own eyes as he neared the side of the building. Erebos rested on his haunches, dark feathered wings lifting themselves slightly at the same instant that he sprung from the ground as high as his legs would allow. Half using the force of wind from beneath his wings and half using his own padded claws, he began to climb the stone wall. Quite the impossible feat for any canine. Although his wings so far had proved to be useless in taking any actual flight, he was still able to beat them harshly to release some of his own weight from his paws. Which proved useful in situations like these. It took no time, but an extreme amount of effort for him to reach the top of the building. He wasted no time to slither along the roof until he came to the area where the Tartarus members were gathering.
Erebos knew what was going to happen here. Their squalls were of no interest to him. The single drop of thick drool snapped free from the thin string of saliva connected to his maw and hit the stone surface below as blank optics stared directly at the large grey domestic fae below him.

[bg=666666][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/4j17yu.png] Ears that had lain flat was perked as a howl echoed through Tartarus territory. The Hound that had been resting peacefully lazily got up, paws heading towards the destinations. Haunches were up as Sphynx sped towards the lab in which she called home.
Having the power of super sonic, she didn't really know how to control this thing yet. All Sphynx knew was that another dog's eardrums could pop because of this, sending immense pain for a few weeks. It could probably deafen the opponent's hearing also, leaving them soundless for a time. Maybe it could send some power waves to use as an offensive attack? No, none the last part was true. She was weak at her powers. The hound wasn't strong enough to produce waves that effective.
She quickly arrived at the destination, seeing most of the pack's member in the area. Most of whom were domestic dogs. Narrowing her eyes at the dogs in suspicion. It was awkward having everybody here. This pack didn't have meetings often. Whichever it was, it must be important.
Setting in a almost-comfy spot, she kept wondering as why the pack would be here. An invasion? No, Henka were too small of a pack to pose danger. A move? Never. This place was one of the only ones where most of the pack liked. Sphynx continued pondering as she waited for the announcements to come.

A snort was let out by a large thick black and red snout. It was lifted as dark mud colored orbes looked around to see none others around. The large coal pelted fae had been out catchingand eating a small hare for an appetizer till later. Fresh wet crimson covered the top of her muzzle as her tongue lulled out as she slightly panted and licked off her black drueling lips.
Taries was rather new to the pack after being a loner for so long. The female barely knew anyone and wasn't sure if many really knew she was apart of them yet. The black flaps upon her massive skull perked at the sound of a scarse but loud howl summoning. Ugh the labs the fae thought to herself as she had only gone back there a few times since her excape. Unlike others she still had memory of her human self, and memories of her dog self. Ones she rather forget.
After yellow tarnished sharp daggers finshed the last bites of the unlucky hare the massive female found a small creak to quench her thirst. She was in no rush to go to the call but yet was heading that way anyway. The thick barrel built fae finally pushed forward in the direction of the labs. Her thick muscled stilts powered her pure muscled body at a slow trot not igor to get there.
Taries pondered on why there would be a gathering she had heard the pack didn't have an alpha or any type of leadership. How odd was this? A hot heavy sigh left her big black sniffer, her brown orbs scanned over the broken building. She quickly slipped through the halls to the courtyards. a brute and fae were off to the side. The massive fae didn't know anyone here, she didn't even remember who it was that had let her join. Then she spotted through thr crowd of gathered mutts two in the middle the red fae already ready to start the challenge and the mahogany brute the one whom howled.
For an odd reason Taries felt an urge to be apart of this. She pushed her way throught the crowd snapping and snarling at anyone who didn't move out of her way. It would have been an ease mistake to think she was a male just by looks and attitude. The three inch stub stood erect from her rump as she now stood a half body length infront of the crowd. Just by feeling she wanted the male to win even thought she was not impressed by either dogs size. A curious thought ran through her mind. Could a new packmember lead this pack? She thought as a dark grin spred across her thick muzzle and her eyes became dark as she watched.

As his call faded out the ridgeback allowed his stance to relaxe, there would be challengers, such was inevitable when battling for power. But this cowboy didn't have to boast about his skills. He was more the layed back type until someone was stupid enough to cross that invisible line with him. There was a calm quality to that amber gaze, one that brought to mind the strange quiet just before a wild storm hit the island.
Soon his packmates started to trickle by ones and two, from Rellik to Lequoia the healer, Sphynx to the new rotti whose name he'd yet to catch. When the red bitch came thrusting and snapping her way to the forefront of the slowly forming circle Dante merely lifted a ash dusted lip in a half smirk.
That was expected, what was a bit unexpected was the new comers dominate snappings and movements to the inner most center of the circle that held the liver lab and the mohogany ridgeback. There was a scent of a loner drifting somewhere on that ever present breeze that twisted through the courtyard as if it to were anticipating the coming events.
Still Dante held that relaxed comfortable posture that belied the tension coursing through battle honed muscles, the amber flame of his gaze shifting from one fae to the next. He chose not to speak, what was the point? If there were any who did not understand why they were here, well they'd soon figure it out. It was enough that the participants knew their place. Either as spectators, or challengers.
For the moment Dante made no move, instead he bid his time, let them make their move first...

The thick blood colored tassel stayed raised and rigid as a small commotion through her line of thought away from Dante and onto a russet and black female. Typical Rottweiler was grinning her peeve away, her triangular ears perked up. As Niveda's eyes trailed down her frame, she noted her stubby tail erect. Her own ears stayed posed as before as she looked off, and along the crowd.
She spotted out a winged wolf, whom she had seen maybe less then two times before since her time being here in these lands. Niveda made a mental note to meet up with him someday, get to know him some, since he did strike her as ultimately unique. Another trace of the pack and she spotted an elegant silver dusty colored female and then Spinx, the Pharaoh hound from before. Head finally snapping back to face the two before her, before licking her heavy lips. Shaking her head her mind tracing over the new opponent as her eyes stayed with Dante's.
Suddenly she moved out, but it wasn't a throwing lunge, it was instead a steady, correctly proportioned jog across the area to where Dante stood. Circling around, she could hear the murmurs and indistinct chattering that flooded through out the pack. Niveda never paid no mind to them shook her head, a jousted growl dripping from her muzzle, quickly silencing most of the pack members. Her thicker neck fur rippled beneath her movements, head held high as she passed the new rottie a degenerating stare until she was besides Dante.
They stood almost identical in height, her being a full inch taller then him. Only difference was her blood color to the males creamier chestnut. Liver colored nares wrinkled some, lips still left to rest over her set as she waited this time, on the black with tawny female. She had the lines of German in her, something Niveda had worked with before in her good years. They deemed themselves worthy, very loyal, but very temperamental as well so she figured this one would be no different then they had.
Using her peripheral vision, she could see Dante's face. Hopefully he understand why she had moved to his side, an faced the other female's direction. Now all her mind could usher was a ticking time bomb as she waited, a rather nasty, unpleasant and psychotic smile on her liver lips as her eyes captures the rottie's . Paws rested upon the tarnished ground lightly, most of her weight was actually pinned to her chest and forelegs at this very moment. Oh joy.

The thick bodied fae watched as to see the red fae send her a degrating look as she pranced her way around to the brute's side. Already distinct dislike for this fae set in to the rottie. Her blood slightly heating as to see the liver female seemingly take sides with Dante.
As the opposing fae desided and stood her spot, Taries had counter thoughts herself about this. Her kanine pride told her do it and take a stand again the red fae, her humanity though rejected the thoughts telling her to stay to the side and only assist the unnamed brute to winning.
Taries held the green gaze, holding back the quick temper of the rottie within her. She returned the stare with a look to say 'get off your highorse.' If there was one thing Taries hated faes and brutes that thought themselves better then others. Slowly pressing her weight to the side and forward the black barrel chested female strided in the opposite direction that Niveda did. To her hope , she hopred the brute would not side with this fae. Mind set this black and red fae was determind to only fight Niveda, she'd show she'd be loyal to Dante.
It seemed as her head slowly swivelled to keep an untrusting eye on the red fae, the rottie was already desiding to second guess her thoughts. But she show'd no signs of it as she pulled to a stop, her thick body standing at and angle from Dante but infront of Niveda. Her front pillars spread apart as the width of her chest, her cranium lifted just above her shoulders. Her triangle flaps stood irect as she sent a soft glance to the brute, hopefully he'd understand her meaning. She may not be at his side like the other fae but she'd still fight like she was.
Her black lips stiffened as she was not a dogs of many words. Red brows drew to gether as her hard dark auburn orbs set on Niveda, stiffening slightly she was ready for any quick moves of this smaller more agile dog. This fae most likely would have a bit more speed then the rottie herself but Taries would never go down easily to anyone.

"Alright, Alright, I'm coming"
The rust colored brute loped lazily along, following the loud, but now fading, howl. The ubrupt sound caused his russet and black interlaced flaps to ring and burn. He, being the Omega of the pack, was the very last to attend this sudden meeting. A meeting he himself wasn't even informed of. He gave a low sigh and continued on at a steady lope. He didn't run, merely pranced along on long, pure ivory limbs. He may not have been as large as his packmates, but he he held a higher rank. He stopped mid-way to assess the situation. He craefully shook out his medium length pelt, then continued on.
Within moments he found his pack mates circled around Dante who had been the source of the howl. He gave a deep yawn and loped around the circle, dropping his lithe frame on the ground on the other side of Dante. He didn't care if it caused a dispute, he figured he had enough authority to settle himself wherever he pleased. Since his pack was Alphaless, he figured this was because of that fact and he was of the highest rank to do as he pleased. He may as well been leader, but he held no intentions. He simply reclined to his ivory with rust framed haunches and curled his russet tail with a black outline and white tip around his front paws.
He sat there, quietly and relaxed his muscles. He didn't speak, just studied everyone in attendance with his bi-colored gaze. His most striking feature had to be his eyes, if anything. His left iris was a bright clear crystal blue that almost appeared silver in some light. The right was a deep honey brown with golden hues. He tilted his head slightly to the side. He assumed a slightly regal appearance, but simply came off as lazy and bored. He was pretty sure he knew what the metting was about. He figured he come along and play spectator. He held no opinion, he held no fear that his position would be stolen from him.
His expression remained bored and his auds perked up, through the tips folded downward as was his breed's standard. He took one last look around, then turned his head away, looking at other things, basically inspecting they're surroundings as he waited and listened quietly.
((ooc: Hope no one minds me placing Mercy in here. I figured he should at least attend since he is Omega XD)) [/blockquote]
